Miele Complete C3 Cat and Dog – Best Canister Vacuum For Pet Hair?

Cat Lying Down

Owning a pet can add years of companionship and joy to your life, but it also comes with some drawbacks. In addition to food and vet bills, cats and dogs have fur – and fur results in shedding.

You may find that after adopting a new cat or dog, your previously spotless floors and furniture are suddenly covered with pet hair. This sort of shedding is largely unavoidable, but fortunately there are tools you can use to address excess pet hair around your home, and one such tool is a vacuum optimized to deal with that hair.

This article serves as a review of the Miele Complete C3 Cat and Dog model, and tries to give you a sense of whether or not this is the best canister pet vacuum.

  • Six Speed Variable Control System: Use your foot while using the Miele Complete in order to adjust the speed and power of the vacuum on the fly. This is a great feature for being able to swap from sucking up deeply rooted hairs to lightly cleaning your floor. The pedal on the vacuum allows for easy adjustment, and you’ll be able to cycle through the settings with ease.
  • An Air Cleaned Sealed System: One of the main reasons that excess pet hair can be an issue is its status as an allergen. The completely sealed and cleaned system allows you to suck up the pet hair with the vacuum and transport it to a sealed cannister. This avoids the risk that you’d have with a lesser vacuum of just lifting the hair and launching it into the air. Have confidence that your vacuum will do a thorough job and keep allergens contained. It also does a good job of lifting pet odors due to the included charcoal filters.
  • Integrated Accessories: Included with this vacuum are all the tools you need to make cleaning pet hair a breeze. Simply snap on the accessory you need for your current cleaning situation and seamlessly transition from a regular floor vacuum to a tool that can get into hard to reach places.
  • Mini Turbo Brush: The included mini turbo brush is optimized for picking up cat and dog hair, and is the main reason why the Miele Complete model is one of the best canister vacuums on the market for dealing with fur. The brush is specifically designed for removing fur from furnishings, setting apart from regular floor vacuums. If you are sick and tired of pet hair ending up on all your furniture, then you definitely want to pick a vacuum intended for dealing with this problem.
  • Great Durability: Buying a new vacuum is an investment, and the Miele C3 Cat and Dog is tested and will last close to 20 years of average use. If you decide to make the purchase, rest assured knowing that it will last for the full life of your pet.

After looking at all the great features that the Miele Complete C3 Cat and Dog has to offer, we can confidently say this is one of the best canister pet vacuums around, even though review websites like Home Floor Experts have not added it to their lineup of best bagless cylinder vacuum cleaners.

The combination of power, convenience, and durability makes it a great choice for cleaning up after your cat or dog and leaving your home clean and pristine.

We’ve given you the information you need to make an educated purchase, so make the decision to take care of all that excess pet hair today!

How to Clean a Bathroom Floor (The Easy Way)

Clean Bathroom Floor

If I had to make a list of the top 10 dreadful things I hate most, cleaning the bathroom (specially the floor) has to be right between having the dentist’s drill in my mouth and driving in Friday rush hour traffic with no air conditioning. But as much as I hate it, it still needs to get done and sadly there is still not an app for that.

I am a very practical person and I believe in constant improvement of ways to do things better, in less time and with fewer resources. So over the years of collecting and testing every tip and way I could find on how to clean a bathroom floor (and after much trial and error), I have come up with a fast and effective method that will work for any bathroom floor you have to face.

Step One: Gather The Supplies

Having the right supplies will save you hard work, money and time. Here is my list:

  1. A lemon cut in half
  2. Baking Soda
  3. Cleaning toothbrush / Tile brush
  4. 1/2 Vinegar 1/2 water solution in a spray bottle.
  5. Small broom (that you can use comfortably)
  6. Paper towels
  7. Your oldest towel (Or a large dry cleaning cloth)
  8. Clorox toilet bowl cleaner with bleach (Only for critical situations were grout is hosting entire civilizations of germs)
  9. Grout colorant & sealant (MAPEI white grout refresh, if you can find it)

Step Two: Clear and Sweep

  1. Get your small broom and sweep the dry floor, starting from the sides and corners and work your way to the center of the bathroom floor. You should end up with a pile of dirt, hair and other nasty stuff.
  2. At this point moisten one or two paper towels and put them over the nasty pile (everything will stick to the paper towels).
  3. Wipe the pile off the floor and place the dirty paper towels in the trash can.

Step Three: Treat Grout and Let Chemistry do The Hard Work

  1. Take your lemon halves and rub them on every inch of grout (Start on the bathroom floor corner that is farthest to the door)
  2. When you are done, go back and sprinkle baking soda on every inch of lemon treated surface (Once again start on the corner farthest from the door.
  3. Finally get the spray bottle that contains the water / vinegar solution and spray enough to cover the entire floor (use the “mist” setting). Just don’t get it too wet.
  4. Leave for 15 minutes.

Step four: Wipe and Dry

  1. When your 15 minute break is over, come back with, cleaning toothbrush, paper towels and your old towel or dry cleaning cloth.
  2. Wet your cleaning toothbrush and brush every inch of grout using the same pattern from the previous step (If the grout is not perfectly clean after this, next time you clean substitute the eco-friendly lemon and baking soda with the Clorox toilet bowl cleaner).
  3. Moisten paper towels and wipe the entire floor (make sure to get all the baking soda residue).
  4. Finally use your old towel to dry the floor. This avoids leaving moisture for new bacteria to grow in, plus you can walk in to the bathroom immediately after, without making a mess.

Bonus Step: Seal and Forget

Once you are satisfied with the cleanliness of your grout, apply the grout colorant & sealant following the instructions in the bottle. If you do it right, you will be able to skip the grout cleaning steps of the process and maybe do it only once a month instead of every week.

5 Simple Tactics For Keeping Your Hardwood Floor Clean

Keeping Hardwood Floors Clean

A hardwood floor gives your home a classy, alluring look. There are few flooring types that are more stylish. However, most homeowners avoid hardwood because they believe that cleaning them takes too much effort.

The good news is that you can still give your home the elegant look it needs. These cleaning tactics will help you clean any type of hardwood.

  1. Dust or vacuum the floor regularly – Keeping your hardwood floor clean means having to invest in a dust mop. These are mops treated with dusting agents to remove annoying dust particles and pet hair. Sweeping it daily with a dust mop keeps it shining. If you want to get down on your hands and knees, use an electrostatic cloth to clean your floor. Find these disposable cloths at any discount store. Avoid using vacuum cleaners with beater brushes that are not designed for hardwood floors. These leave ugly scratches behind.
  2. Use area rugs and runners – Consider using area rugs or runners. Place area rugs in thigh traffic areas. They help to trap loose dirt particles that leave scuff marks. Placing them at entryways is not a practical idea, as they will need constant washing and become easily spoiled. Instead, install floor mats. Carpet runners are a wonderful alternative to area rugs. Use them in the living room, dining room and other places in your home that get the most traffic.
  3. Use a damp mop weekly – Some people mistakenly believe that you should not mop your hardwood floor. While you do not want to leave scuff marks on the floor, you still need to make sure that it is clean.  Mopping weekly with a well-wrung, damp mop helps you do this. Make sure not to use a dripping, wet mop. Remember that the floor consists of real wood that cannot absorb too much moisture. If your damp mop does not remove tough stains, use a cloth and mineral spirits to clean them.
  4. Take care not to leave scuff marks – Another tactic for cleaning your hardwood floor is not to leave scuff marks. While this is not a cleaning activity per se, it keeps it looking pristine and shiny. Scuff marks will ruin the look of your hardwood floor, no matter how you clean it. Place your tables on furniture pads. Never drag your furniture on hardwood floors, and avoid wearing shoes on them. Some shoes and heels dent your floor.
  5. Pay attention to your floor finish – The last, but most important tip is to pay attention to the finish. Know exactly what finish the manufacturer used to coat your floor. Different finishes have different cleaning needs. Follow your manufacturer’s recommendations to clean your floors diligently.

Sealed Floor Surfaces

Dust the floor with a dust mop or sweep it with a soft broom. Combine a little dish washing liquid and water and completely clean the floor.  Dry it out with an absorbent cloth.

Floors Treated With Oil or Penetrating Seals

Prepare yourself to put in more effort to clean your floor if your manufacturer treated it with a penetrating seal. Regular dusting is not enough.

You have to constantly remove the oils wax with stripper products.

Use a vacuum cleaner or dust mop to clean the area. Avoid using damp mops on these floors as they trap dirt and leave scratches. Then, apply a new layer of penetrating wax on the floor.

Varnished Floor

Varnished floors, too, need more care and attention. Merely sweeping or dusting them is not enough. Before using any cleaning agents, dust the floor thoroughly. Then, pour a few drops of a cleaning agent or solvent on a wash cloth. Follow the grain as you clean the floor. Then, remove the cleaner with a dry cloth.

Untreated Floors

Floors with no sealants are probably the hardest to clean, because water easily seeps into the unprotected wood. These floors need you to go on your hands and knees. Clean stained areas on the spot with spirit-based cleaning agents. Then, use a thoroughly wrung, damp mop to go over the surface. Use a dry cloth to dry the floor completely. Cleaning hardwood floors needs a little savvy, but is not too difficult.
